Normal Mapping artifacts....

Post  EasternMerchant on Wed Aug 12, 2009 1:54 am

I converted this grayscale image

using crazybump

to a normal map

then I uploaded the normal map into fryrender

Applied the suggested settings

And rendered the material scene which exposed some artifacts.

I continued to render the scene which also shows some artifacts

Is there a way to prevent this problem from occuring?

Thankyou for your time

Hi!

First of all excuse me because I couldn't answer you before...I've been very busy with my last 3D job.

Have you tried it with less bump level? I've watched that you have set the bump level up till the 100%...Try to reduce the bump level.

By other part, the non disered normal mapping in the corners logically is translated into a bump level...You should fix this variation in the normal mapping before applying the bump level...

It's a good new to watch that in the material preview we can detect the problem before, can't we?

Regards.
